The city of Saluzzo

THE CITY OF SALUZZO
AT THE BASE OF MONVISO, THE CAPITAL OF THE MARQUISATE

In the province of Cuneo, in the shadow of Monviso and at the merge of the Po and Varaita valleys, lies the charming town of Saluzzo.

Medieval village among the best preserved in Piedmont, its historic center has the charm of an important past, that of a capital for four hundred years of the homonymous Marquisate.

Its strategic position, on a hill at the threshold of the Po Valley and halfway between Cuneo and Turin, is highly evocative and easily accessible.

Today the city is one of the most renowned Italian centers of antiques, art furniture and restoration and, among its streets, you can breathe the welcoming air of an extraordinary population.

Points of greatest interest

The points of greatest interest for the city of Saluzzo are without doubt the Castille, fortified residence of the Marquises of Saluzzo, the Dome, unmistakable for its late-Gothic forms, Casa Cavassa, seat of the city’s Civic Museum, Casa Pellico, home of the famous writer Silvio Pellico.
